Following Jesus: Luke 2:41-52

Following Jesus: Like, subscribe and share

I love Paul and James and John and Peter. But Jesus is the one to follow. I subscribed when I asked Jesus into my heart, and he gave me the Holy Spirit. The Spirit daily guides me in truth. I share as I can with the people God has put in my life.

As we follow Jesus together here, let's pick up with the Gospel of Luke and Jesus as a boy.

In His Father’s House (CSB)
2:41 Every year his parents traveled to Jerusalem for the Passover Festival. 42 When he was twelve years old, they went up according to the custom of the festival. 43 After those days were over, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but his parents[Other mss read but Joseph and his mother] did not know it. 44 Assuming he was in the traveling party, they went a day’s journey. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends. 45 When they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem to search for him. 46 After three days, they found him in the temple sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all those who heard him were astounded at his understanding and his answers. 48 When his parents saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.”

49 “Why were you searching for me?” he asked them. “Didn’t you know that it was necessary for me to be in my Father’s house?”[Or be involved in my Father’s interests (or things), or be among my Father’s people] 50 But they did not understand what he said to them.

In Favor with God and with People
51 Then he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was obedient to them. His mother kept all these things in her heart. 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and with people.

Epiphany Readings: Titus 2:11-14 and Titus 3:4-7

Happy Epiphany!

Titus 2:11-14 (CSB)
2:11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. 14 He gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people for his own possession, eager to do good works.

Titus 3:4-7 (CSB)
3:4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love for mankind appeared, he saved us—not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy—through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit. He poured out his Spirit on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior so that, having been justified by his grace, we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life.
